Case reports, case records, and case histories of patients kept by various doctors both in private practice and at hospitals, primarily in New York City. Doctors and hospitals represented include Charles Merrill Clark, surgical clinic of Valentine Mott, University Medical College, N.Y., 1856-1857; John Horn, St. Mary's Hospital, Brooklyn, 1885-1886; James C. Lindsly, New York, cases of cerebrospinal meningitis; reports of midwifery cases attended by students of New York University Medical College, and physicians of the New York Asylum for Lying-In Women, 1842-1843; John Payson Phillips White, New York, 1858; Chauncey Graham, Dutchess County, N.Y., ca. 1760-1844; New York Maternity Hospital, 1883; Charles Loomis Dana, 1918-1925; Newark Homeopathic Dispensary, 1860; and others. Of note are case histories of the Yellow Fever Commission, Havana, Cuba, 1900-1901; many case reports by Francis Delafield, 1863-1903, on diseases of the blood, brain, heart, intestines, and other parts of the body, peritonitis, pneumonia, malaria, and other diseases; and case histories by Charles Pierce Delalain of soldiers wounded in the Franco-Prussian War on whom he performed reconstructive surgery, with photographs, 1870-1871

Valentine Mott was an American surgeon and medical professor in New York City. He graduated from Columbia College, where he later became a professor of surgery; he also had a very successful private practice. He spent 1834-1841 in Europe.
